Highway 65 at the Blanche River, near the Québec border. I’m currently distracting myself from writing a report on this bridge by posting its photo. It’s scheduled for a rehabilitation in 2013 and I’m devising a detour plan to help traffic get through there while work’s underway.

Given the design speed for most of our freeways in Ontario there’s no need for them to be posted at 100 km/h. Up them to 110 km/h- gives a bit of a margin between design speed and posted speed. Then we’re good to go.

Reassurance sign along west bound 401. Given the proximity of the Hwy 403 interchange and traffic coming in there it makes some sense, but it is still a rather excessive warning.

A video I took last month of the new section of Highway 11 at Sundridge/South River, prior to it opening. I was there on work business so I took the opportunity to record some (shaky) footage.

A little departure today. It’s at a ferry dock, but I wanted to use this photo today for the obvious reasons.
I took this photo just before my class got on the ferry in Jersey City. After taking the ferry across the river and went up the World Trade Center. I was always interested in the WTC towers from when I was a kid, and am glad I was able to visit them at least once.
Of course, my own little experience pales in gravity to the events of ten years ago today. RIP to all the victims of that terrible tragedy.

Facing south towards the interchange of Highway 11 and Lakeshore Drive in the south end of North Bay. A bit of history here, prior to 1987, Pinewood Park Drive- the road that roughly parallels Hwy 11 here- was the main route of the highway. Lakeshore Drive itself was known as Highway 11B prior to 1998, and was even a part of Highway 11 before the designation was re-routed to the North Bay bypass in 1959.
