Sign indicating the re-designation of Gospel Mission Road to Highway 124. Gospel Mission Road is a former alignment of Highway 11 that runs parallel to the new Hwy 11 freeway from the north end of the Sundridge-South River bypass to the Goreville Road/Summit Road interchange (the next one northerly). As of my last visit up that way there was no signage southbound indicating that Highway 124 ran along there, save this one above. At the southern end the junction of Highway 11 does show 124 going in both directions.Photo taken November 2011

As the Highway 401 service centres are redeveloped, an obvious gap exits in terms of knowing where reliable, 24/7 service can be found. So, MTO have erected signs like these at exits around the closed service centres in order to direct motorists to essential roadside services. This particular one was at Dorchester Road and Hwy 401, during the reconstruction of the eastbound centre at Woodstock.

Apparently Huron County has a new design for their county road signs. Definitely unique with the serif font and the graphic, but a little variety is nice.
This particular sign is on Huron Road 81, formerly Highway 81, between Parkhill and Grand Bend.

The freeway section of Highway 6 descending the Niagara Escarpment towards Hamilton. What appears to be a large culvert in the picture here is actually a pedestrian underpass to connect the Bruce Trail across the highway.

Keeping with the theme of defunct municipalities, here’s an old Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Road sign. This is on an old alignment of Highway 6 through the small community of Freelton, right near the north end of the City of Hamilton’s current limits.Photo taken February 2012

In spite of the fact that Victoria County ceased to exist in 2001, signs for Victoria County Rd 32 were still present on Highway 115 south of Peterborough last summer.

Sign on Highway 35/115 denoting the location where the 407 extension will come in. Currently that’s slated to happen by 2020, when the 407 will offer a northern bypass of the communities in southern Durham Region.

Highway 65 at the Blanche River, near the Québec border. I’m currently distracting myself from writing a report on this bridge by posting its photo. It’s scheduled for a rehabilitation in 2013 and I’m devising a detour plan to help traffic get through there while work’s underway.
