Sign indicating the re-designation of Gospel Mission Road to Highway 124. Gospel Mission Road is a former alignment of Highway 11 that runs parallel to the new Hwy 11 freeway from the north end of the Sundridge-South River bypass to the Goreville Road/Summit Road interchange (the next one northerly). As of my last visit up that way there was no signage southbound indicating that Highway 124 ran along there, save this one above. At the southern end the junction of Highway 11 does show 124 going in both directions.Photo taken November 2011

A video I took last month of the new section of Highway 11 at Sundridge/South River, prior to it opening. I was there on work business so I took the opportunity to record some (shaky) footage.

Facing south towards the interchange of Highway 11 and Lakeshore Drive in the south end of North Bay. A bit of history here, prior to 1987, Pinewood Park Drive- the road that roughly parallels Hwy 11 here- was the main route of the highway. Lakeshore Drive itself was known as Highway 11B prior to 1998, and was even a part of Highway 11 before the designation was re-routed to the North Bay bypass in 1959.

Highway 11 north of North Bay, at the now-closed provincial mental health facility there. Facing south towards the city.
Not the greatest photo, but this isn’t a perspective that I get often. I had the chance to fly from North Bay back to London for the long weekend for just a little more than it would have been to take the bus, so I jumped at the chance.
